Speaking of Work

So here we are, two weeks into our study on work, and it just so happens we may have an opportunity to show Travis and Marvin that yes we can hear them, and YES we can apply what they've been teaching us.  On October 29th at 7:30PM we will be going to church, that's right its a Friday night and we will be not just attending church, but actually performing an entire service for 1000 Hills Ministry Church Under the Bridge.

Here is how this works.  Various churches run a church service that happens each and every week under the bridge (or mix-master if you will) in downtown.  After the service we also provide a meal for those who have attended the service.  An average week has 150 people come out for this event.  

There are so many ways to get involved in this project.  Are you musically inclined?  You could help lead worship.  Are you an evangelist?  You could help lead someone to Christ after the message.  Are you a gifted speaker who has a calling to preach?  Guess what you can do, preach!!  If your a pew warmer, not really musical, kind of shy, then maybe you can come and sit next to someone and offer them an smile and warm hello.  I was told that of anything we can do just treating those who attend this service with warmth and respect as fellow worshippers of Christ is huge.  

If you cannot dedicate a Friday night, we will need help getting the meal prepared earlier that week.  You're a horrible cook like me?  Well 1000 Hills likes to provide Bibles and bug spray for those attending the service.  Thats right, the two greatest needs, Bibles (small portable New Testaments) and bug spray.  For those among you who say "okay, I don't do any of those things, I think a Bible should weigh as much as the dictionary, I don't sing, I can't speak, I can't cook, and you are totally destroying the environment with those pesticides" we still have something for you.  How about childcare?  See there is something for everyone, nothing is more organic than a baby.  

We will be giving you all the details in the coming weeks, but for right now, set aside Friday October 29th.  Be thinking about buying an extra can of bug spray when you shop.  Consider singing in the shower to warm up your voice, we're gonna have a great time and want you to be part of what God is going to do!!!
